C.J. Beathard has been acquired by the Jacksonville Jaguars to serve as Trevor Lawrence's backup for the 2019 season.
He was given a two-year contract with a starting salary of $4.5 million. He can earn up to $6.5 million under the agreement, which also includes annual bonuses of $1 million.
Beathard has supported Lawrence for the past two seasons. In just two games last year, he amassed 35 throwing yards and one interception.
In reality, over the course of his two seasons in Jacksonville, he has only passed for 68 yards.
The Jaguars coaching team is still pleased with his performance even though he doesn't appear as frequently.
After being selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Beathard began his professional journey with them.
He has a lifetime completion percentage of 58.8%, throwing for 3,537 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
